Q. My Smartnav is not working it just says Guidance not active what is the problem?
A.
Smartnav unit is just saying you have no guidance in the system. Please press and hold your Smartnav button for about 5 seconds and you will connect.

Q. When trying to contact the Smartnav Control Centre three beeps are heard from the system?
A.
This will signify that the call has failed – it will be redialed automatically. Failure to connect could be due to poor GSM coverage at the current location, or simply that the GSM network is busy.

Q. What happens if I don’t receive my requested route?
A.
Smartnav will continue to try to deliver the route until successful. You will be given the option to cancel your requested route.

Q. I am selling my car and want to move the Smartnav to my new vehicle?
A.
Please contact our Sales Department who will be able to quote you on having a new unit installed in your new vehicle; there may be a discount available for being an existing customer. If you would like to discuss this option and get a quote, please call our sales team on 01234 759350.

Q. I am the new owner of a Vehicle fitted with Smartnav, what do I need to do to get the unit registered in my name?
A.
Contact our Customer Service Department via email smartnavsupport@trafficmaster.co.uk, with the vehicle registration and the account will be made ready. Please wait at least 24hrs and then contact the Control Centre via the Smartnav Button/Screen and you will be able to register.

Q.My Screen is showing “connection error” what shall I do?
A.
Please check that the cable is fully connected and pushed all the way in. Then wait five minutes as your unit may be receiving a remote upgrade. If the problem persists please contact our Customer Services Team via email smartnavsupport@trafficmaster.co.uk

Q.My Screen has fallen off the Dashboard
A.
Please contact our Customer Services Team via email smartnavsupport@trafficmaster.co.uk who will arrange for new set of adhesive pads & alcohol wipes to be sent to you. . Silicon based dashboards seriously reduce the effectiveness of the adhesive pad therefore it is critical that all traces of grease are removed using the alcohol wipe.

Q. Can I view my Smartnav balance on my website?
A.
Currently no but you can find out your balance any time day or night via the Smartnav Control Centre from a PA .

Q. How do I add Favourite Destinations?
A.
Whilst logged in to www.smartnav.com you can create and update up to 20 favourite destinations

Q. What is Safe Speed and how does it work?
A.
The Smartnav Safe Speed option alerts you when you approach zones monitored by fixed safety cameras, variable safety cameras and multi-camera detectors (also known as Specs). There are three audible alert stages. Three beeps warn you as you approach a monitored zone, followed by five beeps immediately before you enter the zone. These beeps remind you to concentrate on the road ahead, and give you enough time to correct your speed. If you continue driving over the limit through the zone, continuous beeps warn you until your speed falls below the limit.

Q. What is Smartnav stolen vehicle tracking option?
A.
If you have the Stolen Vehicle Tracking option and your vehicle is stolen, we can help to locate it by using the Global Positioning System (GPS) within your Smartnav unit. In addition, fitting Stolen Vehicle Tracker to your vehicle could also reduce your insurance premiums. If your vehicle is stolen, you must first report the theft to the Police and obtain a crime reference number. Once you have the number, call our dedicated Stolen Vehicle Tracking phone line 0844 561 9990. The Trackstar Team will activate the GPS tracking function in your vehicle's Smartnav unit, which then tells us the car's exact location every 20 seconds. We continuously update the Police with the vehicle's location to help them recover it.

Q. Can I use Smartnav in Europe?
A.
All major countries within Southern Europe are covered. European navigation is subject to ownership of a compatible Smartnav unit and a UK Navigation subscription for the duration of the European stay. European Navigation option is available for a single month or as an annual subscription for regular travelers. European Navigation option cannot be subscribed to without a valid UK Navigation subscription and is subject to a maximum of 120 PA requested routes per year. Activation of this service is subject to a set-up delay of 48 working hours – please bear this in mind when planning your journey.
